More Custom Zombicide Black Plague/Green Horde Characters

I've finished up with the images I'm using for my latest batch of new characters, so I actually got a few made these last couple of days. Most are from various Rum & Bones sets.

This is a Heroclix figure. Asgardian Warrior maybe?

I use a Heroclix figure. Felt like he fit the vibe of Black Plague/Green Horde better than classic Zombicide.

Fleshing out Your Zombie Horde

I like a wide variety of zombies in my horde. It just looks better, in my opinion. There are a lot of zombie games on the market right now that offer miniatures. Here's a look at some of them. For the sake of this post, I'm going to focus on Modern Zombicide.

First off is Reaper. They have a few minis for modern day zombies. They tend to run ever so slightly larger than your standard Zombicide walker, but the scale is really, really close.

Urban Zombies

Chainsaw Zombie

Zombie Strippers

Charlie, Zombie

Linus, Zombie

Lucy, Zombie

Zombies: Doctor, Nurse, and Patient

Bonnie, Muumuu Zombie

The next round of minis are all from various board games. I'm going to go through each game and give a pic for size comparison at the end.

The Walking Dead game from Mantic has some of the best zombie figs out there beside Zombicide. The scale matches up pretty well, but they are beefier looking compared to Zombicide minis, though it's not too off-putting at all. Plus, TWD walkers, or Roamers, tend to have interesting details like missing limbs and a wider range of races compared to Zombicide that look great in a horde.

The Resident Evil 2 board game from Steamforged Games have some great minis as well that match up pretty well with Zombicide. Many of them are cops, and a few are on fire for some interesting details to add to the horde. Plus, there's a Kickstarter coming on 4/28 for Resident Evil 3! Even more zombies!

Last Night on Earth from Flying Frog Productions is a great zombie game. The minis are a little smaller than Zombicide. Plus, the plastic is such that when primed some will continue to feel tacky, but once painted and hit with some dullcoate, that generally goes away. The minis aren't as good as Zombicide, TWD, or RE2, but they aren't bad and it will add some more variety to your horde.

Zpocaylpse from Greenbrier Games has a couple of sets one for just general zombies (Horde in a Box) and one for zombies one could find in a hospital (Zmergency Hospital Horde). The bases are rectangular, but will still fit and be held in Citadels miniatures handle. They are slightly smaller and less beefy than Zombicide minis, but they take to primer well and are generally decent miniatures. I can't speak to the quality of the game or if the base game comes with more minis as I don't own the base game.

Dark Darker Darkest from Queen games has a lot of minis in the box. They are pretty small compared to Zombicide, and are really about as small as I would add to my horde. The small bases are just barely held in regular sized Citadel handle (if that makes any difference to you). Still, they are some good looking minis that can easily be hand-waved as those are adolescent zombies. The only reason I'd pick this up is for the zombies, and even then there are better options. The game isn't nearly as good as any of the others listed here. I was able to get the entire line for cheap at Half Price Books. If it wasn't for that, I likely wouldn't have bothered.

Zombie 15' has some cool figures. They aren't as detailed, but they do look good even though they are a little smaller than Zombicide figures (pretty on par with those from Zpocalypse). It's a fun game as well!

Then there's Zombies!!! from Twilight Creations. This is an older game that sells bags of their zombies for pretty cheap. I like the game, though it is pretty basic, and it hasn't seen much time at the table since LNOE and Zcide were released. The zombie miniatures are far too small, but are surprisingly detailed.

From Left to right: Zombicide, Resident Evil 2, The Walking Dead (Mantic), Last Night on Earth, Dark Darker Darkest, Zpocaplyse, Zombie 15, Zombies!!!
