The Zombicide: Undead or Alive Kickstarter is entering it's last days. (Click
HERE to go to the Kickstarter page and check it out!) Undead or Alive is a Wild West version of Zombicide. Now, obviously, I love the Zombicide series of games and I love westerns, so this was a no-brainer to back. Just like with every Zombicide KS, there are a lot of survivors based on characters from movies, and this time is no different, but they also added in some real-life personalities from the Old West as well. Here's the current breakdown:
(This is only the KS Stretch Goals, not the base game survivors.)
This is January Jones from the movie Sweetwater. |
Obviously Robert Redford as Jeremiah Johnson. |
This is Billy the Kid from the history books. There are several "true life" personalities among the stretch goals. (Although not nearly enough, IMO.) |
Salma Hayek from Bandidas. |
CMON took a more real life approach to Butch rather than making him look like Paul Newman. |
Marty McFly from Back to the Future 3 |
I originally thought of Kurt Russel from Bone Tomahawk, but the popular consensus is this is Kristoff Waltz's character from Django Unchained. |
While some think this is a nod to James Brown (who had talked about his Apache heritage), which the cape looks a bit like one that James Brown wore and "Cheii" is the Navajo word for "grandfather", I'm just not sold on it and I'm more willing to think this is just a generic Navajo character.
Lee Van Cleef, most notably from The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly. |
Consensus is a bit split on this one. Some people this it's supposed to be Michael Biehn as Johnny Ringo, but I'm more of a mind that this is Viggo Mortenson from Appaloosa. |
No figured out homage here, just a generic Native American archer. Seriously the model of this character looks great! |
Doc Holliday from the history books. |
Doc Brown from Back to the Future 3 |
The first of the "Steam" stretch goals. Most seem to think this is a nod to Evan Rachel Wood's Delores from West World, with the hair of Dolly Parton as a bit of a wink and a nod. I don't know if I'm sold on this, but the dress is a close fit for Delores. |
Morgan Freeman from Unforgiven. |
Franco Nero as Django. |
Most seems to think is a nod to The Swede from Hell on Wheels. |
The outfit is pretty close to that of Jason Patric's character from the pretty forgettable western, Bill Kill. |
John Wayne as he looked in many of the movies he made mid-career. |
Not sure that this is an homage or not, but Grayson looks like both of the depictions of Wild Bill from the movie about him and from Deadwood. |
Charles Bronson as Harmonica from Once Upon a Time in the West. |
An homage to Geronimo. |
This one is Janie Stubbs from Deadwood. |
Chevy Chase from The Three Amigos. |
Jesse James from the history books. |
Doesn't appear to be an homage here. There are many pictures of Scouts wearing cavalry coats in the history books. |
Yul Brenner from the Magnificent Seven. |
This is an homage to Mary Agnes from Godless. |
This is an homage to Kenneth Branaugh's Dr Arliss Loveless in Wild Wild West. |
Mel Gibson as Maverick |
Jodie Foster from Maverick |
Eli Wallach from The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly. |
This is Claudia Cardinale from Once Upon a Time in the West. |
Penelope Cruz from Bandidas. |
Looks to be another generic Native American survivor. |
While I don't think the art is right, the description is a dead ringer for Al Swearingen from Deadwood. |
This is a pretty obvious homage to Alice Fletcher from Godless. |
Lots of theories on this one. People are split between Daniel Day Lewis from the Gangs of New York and various Snidley Whiplash-like characters from cartoons and old silent movies. Me? I think it's Snidely Whiplash to a "T" |
While I first thought this was Tom Selleck from Quigley Down Under, I've come around to believing that this is Kevin Costner's Charley from Open Range. |
Sharon Stone from The Quick and the Dead. |
This is an homage to Jeff Bridge's Rooster Cogburn from the remake of True Grit. |
Wyatt Earp from history, though the design is very much Kurt Russel's version from Tombstone. |
Ah yes, The Bern has made it into Zombicide. |
While a lot of people first thought of Shirley McClain in Two Mules for Sister Sara, I think Grace looks more like Sally Fields in the Flying Nun. Others think this is a nod to Linsey Lohan in Machete. |
Steve Martin in The Three Amigos. Sadly, we're only getting 2 of the 3 amigos. It seems Martin Short's lawyers watch for homages like a hawk. |
Ruth Bader Ginsburg makes an appearance to judge the undead! |
Clint Eastwood in his iconic role of the Man with No Name. |
This is pretty obvious Terrence Hill from the Trinity westerns, but the description give some slight nods to Robert Redford both as the Sundance Kid and as Johnny Hooker from The Sting. |
This is Olivia Wilde's character from Cowboys and Aliens. |
Pretty obviously Maeve from West World. |
This is easily Bud Spencer from the Trinity movies. |
Wild Bill Hickok from the history books, they even got his hair color right! |
Jamie Foxx as Django. |
This is Ed Harris's character from Sweetwater. |
Jackie Chan from Shanghai Noon. |
Looks to be another generic Native American character. I do like how they are spreading the look around and they aren't all looking like they come from the same nation. |
